Life’s pace has slowed considerably these last few weeks. Slow is not my natural rhythm. But it feels right to follow this tide right now as close as I am to the finish line of my #WIP Maybe I’m hesitating. Maybe I’m taking a beat. But, I’d like to think I’m savoring. Savoring the last few writing sessions on what will be my first completed novel. Savoring this close-to-completion feeling. Savoring this calm before the querying storm. Slow and steady and savoring. . What are you savoring these days, beauties? 🖤

Wishful thinking 🌟 . I’m a big dreamer. I think you have to be as a writer. When @loyalestudio asked their ambassadors to share our 2019 goals, I knew immediately what I’d post. At the center of my 2019 intentions, my wish list, the beating of my heart, is to finish and query my novel, LIGHTS UP. To turn this wall of index cards into a book on a shelf. This a life goal of mine and is the pulse of 2019 for me. . Time is precious. Especially for those of us balancing the work of writing with the work of parenting/living. We have to be careful with how we spend it, use it, and enjoy it. With this focused intention, I know I will achieve this goal this year! And I can’t wait until the day I get to tell you all I’ve done it. Thank you for following along. . It’s been a WEEK y’all. I didn’t mean to take a week off from posting, but so much life happened (I won’t bore you with the details). But I will say that despite this being one of the more challenging weeks I’ve had in a long while, it was my mom, my sisters, my best friends, and many of you who uplifted me and supported me through it. Who reminded me that a week off from writing isn’t the end of the world. That slowing down is important. That crying is cleansing. That growth comes from the hard days. On a day that sees and celebrates women, I want to thank all these women in my life who inspire, nurture, empower, embolden, and uplift me and each other. If it weren’t for you, life would be a hot, damn boring mess. Here’s to an inspiring, nourishing, and restful weekend with the women we cherish, beauties 🌷#internationalwomensday

Sometimes a writer’s work is best done in the quiet moments lost in thought 💭 I have to believe thinking counts bc I haven’t had the best pen to paper writing week, but I have done a lot of good thinking. I’ve spent so much time in my head restructuring some of the major plot points of my book, worrying over tiny details, and problem-solving some of the more glaring issues. I have some ideas I want to try out, some changes I need to make, and a more refreshed mindset for when I tackle the actual beast (aka the manuscript) again tomorrow. Not a lot to show for it yet, but a good work week regardless. . Where/when do you do your best thinking, beauties? I love a good long walk. Gets my brain rolling every time. 👇🏼👇🏼👇🏼

The messier the hair, the better the writing. My totally unscientific writing theory 😂 . After a few days off to give my mind a rest, I’m back at these revisions today refreshed and motivated. Thanks to @jamisheetswrites & @embracemypace I finally got the craft book “Save the Cat Writes a Novel” and omg it’s helping me with the last piece of the puzzle — STRUCTURE. Yeah, I probably should’ve focused on that earlier to save myself some time, but this is my first book showing 🤷🏼‍♀️ you don’t know what you don’t know! It’s all coming together and I feel really excited about finishing strong 💪🏼 . Happy Monday, beauties. How messy is your hair today? 😉😘

I see you. I see you smiling at your laptop early in the morning. Yawning at the keyboard late into the night. I see you pushing through self-doubt and fatigue. I see you rising above your inner critic and setting fire to your fears. I see you holding the hearts and hands of your children while your mind churns on your souls passion. I see you course-correcting and trying and struggling and losing your balance and getting up again. I see you writing the story that matters. The one that makes you giggle and tear up and want to throw your desk at a window. I see you watching the clock wind down on your precious writing time with a sinking feeling in your gut. I see you take a breath and recenter yourself with the knowledge that your story, your truth, will always wait for you. I see you for the gorgeous badass you are. I see you because I am you. A hopeful (if terrified) writer, a loving (if distracted) parent, an impassioned (if exhausted) dreamer. I see you and I can’t wait to read you. Thank you for seeing me, too 🖤
